    3. That is it! I remembered after posting that the baby was born after my dad, and not before, so I am sure that Herbert is the right one. I also typed Edwin A Fritz Jr instead of Edwin A Fritz Sr. Ed Jr was my Dad. And the Anna I'm going to check into. My grandfather had only one sister, Clara, but Anna very likely may have been related to his father, Richard Fritz, in Topeka. All the rest of the Fritz's are in Topeka. I have such good memories of trips up there when we went to visit my grandparents there in Lawrence. Such a beautiful place. Wheat for miles in all directions from my grandparents home, and solid white for miles in the winter. Thank you so much, Richard. --- Richard & Joy Wellman <wellmanj@idir.net> wrote: > Searching the Douglas Co. "Tombstone Census" book > resulted in only a couple > entries. 2. Marlaina Fritz Barr
    3. Hello Listers, My grandparents had a baby that died very young before my father was born on Sept, 1926. That would make the birth of the infant in 1923 to 1925, with the death before 1926. I never new his name (if he even lived long enough to be named), just that it was a boy. How would I go about finding the records for him? My grandparents were married and lived in Lawrence until after retirement. Edwin Albert Fritz Jr. and Mary Gladys Fritz (she always went by Gladys). Thanks for any help. I'm stumped. Arthur Lamartien and Elenore Cooley would be my great-grand father and mother. Let me dig around in my notes and see if I can find the info that you are looking for. I do know that some of the Shanes are in the Elmo cemetary and my Grandmother and Grand father are buried with some other Shanes in the cemetary at the old New Basel church. We do have a very rabid Shane cousin who has tons of info about the Shanes (almost back to Adam and Eve) I will pass your info on to him and let him contact you. They travel alot in search of Shane ancestry. Hope this helps a little Patrick Shane

I did make a copy of the copy but, one page was cut off during the original copying. I will dig out the copy this weekend and see what page it is....perhaps your copy will have the page intact. JB was a wee bit windy. I also have copies of JB's military and trial papers. (not all but some) I have be looking for the grave sites of Nicholas and Statira. My information indicates they are buried at the Abilene cemetery but, I have been told the records were destroyed in a fire. Do you know the location of their burial site? Every once in a while I go out and walk parts of the cemetery and have found a few Shanes but not them. Also have been looking for info. concerning Nicholas D.'s family in Pa. but, no luck so far. Her husband is buried beside Frank, and this is because of a mistake in 1917. Now, Jennie's maiden name is Henderson, and she was raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia, according to my mother, who knew her for about ten years - my mother and father were married during June 1937, in Riley County. This is the problem. My brother says that mother told him that Jenny told her that her father fought with the South. Can this be confirmed? As to Stephen, I have his discharge papers from the "Yankees" - he entered the Northern Army in Wisconsin where he was a farmer, and according to my brother is responsible for the eagle which was used by the northen Army. That eagle was so popular that someone decided to place it on the quarter, hence, the quarter has that eagle, because of my Grandfather!!! Did Jennie's dad fight with the Southern Army?

    3. Mt. Calvary is in the City of Lawrence, and is immediately west of the large Oak Hill cemetery. The St. Johns Catholic Cem. is about 1 mile east of Lawrence along Route 10. It is in section 4, Twp. 13, range 20, if you have a county land map. Per note in the Franklin cem. records, some of the burials at Franklin were later moved to Lawrence's Mt. Calvary. From the Dg. Co. Cemetery book, it would appear that there are tombstones existing in Mt. Calvary for your Lavelle members. There is only a reference to the civil war record mentioned in the Franklin records and it was by records from Susan Alexander of Lawrence, rather than any direct cemetery or tombstone records.
