Do you have information specific to Dickinson County? I think the Oregon Trail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Trail) might have passed through Abilene, though it was already obliterated by engineered roads by 1882. Do any hotels still operate in Abilene, which formerly thrived on the tourism associated with its frontier cow-town heritage?
