If someone has a reason to go to that cemetery, maybe they wouldn't mind looking for those names. But I don't want to inconvenience anyone. I am so happy to find this much. Freida died a Swanson and is buried in the Sunset Cemetery in Herington I believe. Her headstone says Freddy Swanson. Her 2 children by Swanson were Wayne and Iva. Wayne is dead and Iva maybe. Wayne and Iva were probably born around 1913 and 1915. I would love to get her death certificate but am really interested in William Franklin Reeves. They were divorced when my father-in-law was young/ The story goes he got some bad liquor and was in a mental institution. Can't find anything about him. I do think he worked for the railroad as did Freida's father, William L. Carpenter. I will wait to hear from you. Thanks again. Regarding Prairie Mound cemetery, it appears to be near Solomon Kansas. I'm listing numbers for several FHs. Herington..Donahue Funeral home 785-258-2244,,Hope, Solomon and Abilene are all owned by same people..their e-mail [email protected], here's phone just in case the e-mail doesn't work 785-655-3431.Their name is Carlson-Becker FH. The one in Abilene years ago was Eicholtz, so they should have names in their archives. Please try the Heritage Center in Abilene for obits and Kansas census. 785-263-2681.I have been told by out of towners that their files are larger than most. I forgot Danner Funeral home in Abilene, 785-263-1313 Hope this isn't too confusing. Let me know if any of this helps. Give me a alittle time and will look up some numbers for you. I imagine the court house would have the cert but I can call the funeral homes that have been there for a long time. May have even been buried through Herington. I actually grew up in Carlton Kansas south of Abilene. Do you know any younger Swanson family names, younger than the grandmother? I knew some that went to Abilene HS and would be age 78-80 now. One that comes to mind is Mike Swanson. Would have graduated about 1949. Will get back with you. I love trying to help people as I have been helped by so many gracious people. LaVona Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The heritage center should have his obit on file. And another source could be the archives of Manchester or Solomon papers at the Abilene Public Library. They may have a volunteer who could look for any mention of a Rev. Robbins during that time. Let me know if you have any success from the Heritage center. Now, a long shot...If you find out where he is buried, I have a class mate living in Solomon who is interested in genealogy and may be willing to go to cemetery and take picture of headstone. Or better still have some information on a church in Manchester or Solomon that he may have serviced. LaVona Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. [email protected] Where did his wife die? I see she was quite bit younger than him. You might get on a Robbins message board. I have had really good luck putting a request on message boards. I checked the Abilene cemetery on Find a Grave. If perhaps they were Catholic, I think there is a separate cemetery for them in Abilen. Again the Heritage center can help you. Have you looked on Heritage Quest? Good luck and let me know if any results are found. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I used to live in Abilene and have done alot of research in Dickinson County.Between my hubsand and myself, we are related to half the county. Let me know if they can help you. A number of special officers were appointed to assist "Wild Bill" Hickok. Among these were James Gainsford, one of the captors of Tom Smith's murderers; James McDonald, who had accompanied Smith to the cabin on his fatal mission; Thomas Carson, a nephew of Kit Carson, the famous scout; "Brocky Jack" Norton, who later served as a peace officer in Ellsworth and Newton; and Mike Williams, who was to be the victim of a tragic mistake by the guns of Marshal Hickok. __________________ My gg-granduncle, Ira Vian and his wife, Elizabeth Carson Vian, moved to Abilene in 1865.
