I came across a book published by the Decatur County (Kansas) Historical Book Committee in 1983. There is a reference to "Smith, E. & G.", written by Everett and George Smith who are children of Jacob and Elizabeth. "Jacob (Jake) Smith came to Decatur County in 1879 from Iowas City, Iowa. He married Elizabeth Karnes on December 25, 1881. Elizabeth Karnes came with her parents Enos and Luhanna Karnes, along with other brothers and sisters sometime previous to 1880.
