It was the first place they came to upon arrival from Sweden. Actual town was McPhereson, Kansas, and the household of J. Otto Engstrom can be seen in 1880's census. He is listed as a bank clerk. Later, the history of Vail-Crawford one can find a small excert in the history, telling that he bought and owned the newspaper for a while. An old letter from "Uncle Enoch" Engstrom is dated in 1940's and posted from Mcphereson, Kansas.
