I am a family member researching by great grandfather Kasper J. Matuszczak. I recently found his manifest records in the Ellis Island database. It was difficult to find since the name was misspelled. I found it hard to believe that he made this journey from Germany alone. Upon closer inspection, I believe that he was traveling with Stephen Jankowski and Johann Wiatrak. They appear to have copied each other on their manifest entries, had the same destination of "Chicago?", and settled in Pittsburg as coal miners. My grandfather was born in Frontenac, KS and they later moved to upstate New York sometime after 1914. I look forward to hearing from you since this is a very exciting connection for me.
