From the book of Crawford County tombstone inscriptions, it would appear her tombstone has only: Mary A. Marvin 1873-1969. Next to her is: Margaret Crelly 1853-1933. There is a tombstone for Patrick H. Creely (different spelling) 1842-1897 in the same cemetery. James and Mary Marvin and their children are on the 1900 densus of Liberal, Barton County, Missouri. Barton County is just over the state line from Pittsburg, Kansas. In fact, Minden Mines, Missouri is just a few miles from Pittsburg. Margaret Crelly is on the 1900 census with her children who were still residing at home at Minden Mines, Barton County, Missouri as: Crelly, Margaret Born Aug 1853 Birthplace Massachusetts widow; mother of 7, all living; both parents born in Ireland John F. Jan 1875 Illinois Nellie E. Feb 1882 Illinois Patrick H. May 1884 Illinois Frank E. Sep 1886 Illinois James G. Dec 1888 Missouri Agnes M. Mar 1891 Missouri Since it appears Margaret had a son named Patrick, I thought it more likely the Patrick H. Creely buried at St. Mary's was Margaret's husband. I looked on the 1880 census of Illinois under both spellings and found the household of Patrick Creely living at Braidwood, Will County, Illinois as: Creely, Patrick Age 39 Birthplace Scotland Coal miner, father born in Scotland, mother born in Ireland Margaret 37 Ireland Peter 9 Illinois Mary 7 Illinois John 5 Illinois Fanney 4 Illinois Margaret 6 mos. Illinois Needless to say, some things are off, such as Margaret's age, birthplace, and the number of children Margaret reportedly had so this may not be the right Crelly family. However, there are some other things that make me think there is a connection. In the Crawford County Marriage Book J, page 93, I found the marriage of Peter J. Crelly, age 22,of Minden, Missouri, and Queena B. Smith, age 22, of Mulberry, Kansas, on 28 Mar 1894 by Wm. S. Austen, J.P. P. J. (probably Peter J.) Crelly 1871-1944 and Queenie B. Crelly 1872-1926 are buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg. The marriage of Margaret D. Creely, age 21, and Kit McConaho, age 22, on 29 Jan 1901 is recorded in Crawford County Marriage Book O, page 372. P. H. (possibly son Patrick H.) Crelly 1884-1921 is also buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery. There are some younger Crellys listed in the Crawford County records who are from a later generation. I would think you will be able to find more information on the records of Barton County, Missouri. I also noticed there is a James G. Crelly, born about 1889 in Missouri on the 1920 census living in Chicago Ward 31, Cook County, Illinois. Hope this helps.
