Both records are located at the Crawford County courthouse although they are very fragile and they weren't letting people look at them any longer. I do believe thay may be on microfilm now.  Check with the Register of Deeds of Office in Crawford County.  They can answer your question.  Franklin has its own website also and you may want to check that out as there are lots of old school photos (students and buildings).  Phyllis http://www.franklinkansas.com
