    1. Re: [KSCRAWFO] Who was Henry Wettstein who died 02 Oct 1910?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.crawford/940.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Actually, according to the transcriptions of the tombstones at Mt. Olive Cemetery, there are at least six other Wettsteins buried there. The 1900 census shows Henry Wettstein (b. abt 1864), a widower, with his four children, Henry (b. abt 1887), Olefina, Rosa, and John, living in Cherokee Twp., Cherokee Co., KS. The 1910 census shows Henry (b. abt 1864) living in Baker Twp., Crawford Co., KS with his wife "Allie" (Ella Wilcox) and sons John, Lee, Joe, and Richard. The 1910 census shows the son, Henry (b. abt 1887) also living in Baker Twp. with his wife Mary and daughter Hellen (five months old). The census indicates that Mary was the mother of only one child, so Henry (b. abt 1887) was probably not the father of Henry with the 1910 tombstone, and none of the other sons were yet married. If you put the name of Henry Wettstein in the search boxes at RootsWeb and pull up the submissions that come up for WorldConnect, you will find two submissions by "ruby red" (look in the right column). The entries there seem to be very well documented and give the information that Henry (b. abt 1864) died in 1950 and is buried in Pueblo, Colorado while his son Henry (b. abt 1887) died 28 Dec 1967 and is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery. This 1967 date agrees with the date listed in the book "Tombstone Transcriptions of All Known Cemeteries in Crawford County, Kansas" by William C. Cuthbertson (Henry R. 1887-1967); however, the Social Security Death Index indicates Henry was born 7 Feb 1887 and died Nov 1986 (at almost 100 years of age!). The Social Security Death Index also lists another Henry Wettstein who lived in Crawford Co., KS. This one was born 26 Nov 1912 and died 2 Feb 2006. Surely the Henry whose tombstone only gives his name and the date Oct 2 1910 was related to this family. I noticed that the same person who made the "ruby red" submissions to WorldConnect also made a "post-em" note to another WorldConnect entry in which she stated that Henry (b. abt 1864)'s marriage license showed his father to also be named Henry Wettstein. Could it be that the Henry with the 1910 date on his tombstone was the father of the Henry born about 1864?
