I have, as many of you know, been trying to help a Lady in Mi.find a way to save a cemetery. In doing this, I have discovered that no cemetery in US is truly safe. The Historical Societies have railroads to buildings on Historical Landmarks. Now I am not complaining about that. Love old trains and buildings, BUT what about our dead. The only requirement is that the bodies be moved.Even this isn't being done sometimes. What I am asking is PLEASE email your State Historical Society. And the State Rep. and ask them to protect the cemeteries. I talked to a lady at N.H.S and she said that Cemeteries can be sometimes put on the Sites list. There is nothing that the dead can do for themselves. We can try. Also no Veteran's Grave is safe unless it is in the National Cemeteries.I am calling my local VFW's and seeing if they can help out with a major campaign to save these graves I guess some would say that this isn't genealogy. But when the graves are gone then we have lost another important part of our families Carol [email protected]
