I am new to the list and am looking for information on two wives of Edward Eugene CRAIG. He had a total of 5 wives, three prior to coming to Pittsburg. In the 1920 and 1930 census he is in Pittsburg Crawford Co., KS living at 202 N Walnut and later at 111 N Olive with Theodosia, maiden name unknown. In 1933 the city directory has him still on N Olive living with Jennie. I am assuming that Theodosia died sometine between 1930 -1933. I am interested in any information on these two wives, like death records or obituaries. Edward was born 19 Mar 1863 in Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri and died 8 May 1939 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana. there are no wives mentioned in his obituary. He is buried in a Pittsburg Cemetery name unknown. He worked for the St. L and S F Railway. Thanks, Jeanine

Descendants later moved into Olathe, Atchinson, Leavenworth area of KS. My grandparents lived for a time in McCune, Crawford county, KS. with their two young daughters. The census has revealed just a few WOODS in this county, nothing that really clicked with data I have. If you have any information to share I would appreciate it. Thank You.

My parents in law were very tight lipped about their relatives. I had a few minutes and looked through the back issues of The Seeker (quarterly publication of the Crawford County Genealogical Society) to see what I could find for you. The marriage of Luther T. Moore, age 25, and Louisa Russell, age 22, on 6 Apr 1885 by W. V. Stokes was recorded in Crawford County Marriage Records Book D, page 221 (The Seeker, Fall 1983, page 49). The birth of a baby (unnamed) in Sheridan Twp. on 18 Jun 1887, 3rd child, female, to father Luther Moore, age ?, born Ill., farmer; and mother Louise Russell, age 26, born Ind.; Doctor W. W. Pritchard, Cherokee, filed 15 Jul 1887; was recorded in Crawford County Birth Records Book I, page 13, line 13 (The Seeker, Winter 1980, page 67). The birth of a baby (unnamed) at Monmouth on 28 Apr 1890, male, 4th child, to father Luther Moore, age 30, born McGregor Co. Ill., and mother Mary L. Russell, age 30, born Edinburg, Ind.; was recorded in Crawford County Kansas Birth Records 1890 Book C, page 159, line 4 (The Seeker, Summer 1993, page 34). On the CD of Tombstone Transcriptions of All Known Cemeteries in Crawford County, Kansas 1867-1976 from the Original Records of William C. Cuthbertson, I found an entry for Arthur Harrison Moore, son of L. T. & M. L. Moore, Apr 28, 1890, Jun 9, 1909, Gone but not forgotten, buried in the Cherokee Cemetery. There were other Russells living around Cherokee, Kansas who may have been Mary Louisa's siblings. At least this gives places in Illinois and Indiana to look for these families before they came to Kansas. Lois Kay Hoxsie

Olive and St. Mary's Cem. are totally different cemeteries. St. Mary's Cem. is part of Highpark Cem. and Mt. Olive is located several blocks to the Northeast of Highland Park. Mt. Olive is behind the Pittsburg State College. The city of Pittsburg bought or has taken over the care of Mt. Olive Cem. and has transcribed all the information to there computer. The caretaker still has a card file he uses to find graves. The phone number for City of Pittsburg is: 620-231-4100. Just ask for Mt. Olive Cem. information. At Highland Park Cem., St. Mary's is located next to the front entrance to the South.
