    2. A quick check to the "Tombstone Transcriptions of Crawford County," gives the following: Drake Benjamin F. 1865-1928 Fannie C. 1866-1928 John A. 1902-1928 They are all three buried at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, and apparently this is all of the information on the tombstones, just names and years. I found no entries for Louisa or Lowell Drake. Lois Kay in Arizona

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zl.2ADE/500 Message Board Post: I have a photograph that I'm trying to date. I think the picture dates to around 1900. The picture was taken by Howard's Gallery in Girard. "J. R. Bell, Operator" is inscribed right next to the name of the studio. Does anyone know when J. R. Bell was the "operator" of Howard's Gallery? I found a J. R. Bell in the 1900 census living in Lincoln Twp., Crawford County. He was 37 at the time and it looks like he was a farmer (the copy was hard to read). I cannot find him in the 1910 or 1920 census in Kansas or any other state. If anyone can shed some light on this, I would appreciate it. Judi

Lois Kay, I'm unsure if you remember or not, but we have corresponded before, your ggrandmother (I think I have the right number of g) and my ggrandfather (William O Birdsell) I think we decided were siblings. I was wondering what relatives you still have in the area as I also have several cousins in Cherokee and Scammon from that side of the family. My mother (other side of my family) also still has a lot of members there and they know each other. 2. Hi Lois Kay, Thank you for the family information. I have a very poor copy of an obit from Dec 21 1900 stating Catherine Willis was b Dec 21 1823 Shiremanstown PA, now living with her brother Daniel since her husbands death, she and her husband had come to KS in 1888. She was to be buried in Hepler. he brother Daniel b Shiremanstown PA 1810 died after returning home from attending her funeral. He was at the home of a daugher. J.W. Freeman 4 miles north of Walnut. I wonder if there were some cemetery reocrds lost due to destruction of headstones, or maybe they were not marked?
