Author: 13KimBaker Surnames: Classification: lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.crawford/1033.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Pittsburg paper did not list parents' names; mentioned he died at Girard. The Girard paper also did not list names. However, it said he was born November 25, 1866 in Miller County, Missouri, one of twelve children. The family is found in the 1870 census of Miller County on pages 230-231. The parents are Isaac Horton, age 50, born in Virginia and Abba(?) age 48, born in North Carolina. In the 1880 census, they are shown as Isaac and Issabel. In the 1900 census, Issac is widowed; born October 1822. I hope this helps. 1. [KSCRAWFO] Official State Atlas of Nebraska (atlas on CD review)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: r_a_green Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.crawford/1034/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties, an abridged atlas of county and city maps from 'The Official State Atlas of Kansas, Everts & Kirk, 1887'. The Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties (Zone 1-12) Atlas is a complete set of 1887 Kansas county maps. Each of the 12 Zones consists of a series of 8-10 bordering county maps making up all 106 Kansas counties. Each Zone Atlas contains high resolution scanned images of vintage 19th century county and city maps that are presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Individual Zone CD's are available as well. In addition to all 106 Kansas county maps, there are nearly 800 city and village maps on this CD. City maps and plans are often more detailed and include the names of many original property owners, businesses, municipal buildings, etc. Please note: some small city and village map plans include street and lot detail only. Maps include the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * racetracks, fairgrounds and picnic groves * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms - and much more The Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century Kansas places and place names. These early maps often contain many places that no longer exist or that have been obscured over time; the location of property owners, businesses, churches and cemeteries may assist genealogical researchers interested in Kansas history. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas, and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. Read a complete review of this and other 19th century materials: http://home.comcast.net/~r_a_green/review.html Good luck in your research! Author: brentp256 Surnames: PRICE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.crawford/1030/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching my father's family from Kansas and am looking to see if anyone has any photos, stories, info, etc., that is not on Ancestry.com. Primarily, I'm interested in: Louie Edwin PRICE (1887- <1930) Family legend says he was born at sea crossing to the United States. One Census record supports this, everything else claims New York. He had four sons: Conrad, Kenneth Fred, Louie Edwin Jr., and Carroll Eugene. My family line is from Kenneth Fred, and we have very little info on the brothers. Also, we think Louie Edwin's father was named Sam (but have no sources) and mom may have been Rose. Any help on this family would be appreciated. Author: luciemyers1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.crawford/1028/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, everyone: On behalf of one of my French correspondants, I am trying to find his ancestor, Florentin FIORET, and or his descendants born in America. Florentin FIORET, his wife Matilda, his children Auguste and Florentin Jr. came to the U.S. on Sept. 27, 1914 and settled in Pittsburg, Kansas where apparently Florentin FIORET worked at a Coal Mine in Crawford County. Florentin or Flor sent his family back to France - we don't know when. The last info we have on him is the 1925 Kansas State Census which indicates that he lived, alone, but still married, at Ringo, Crawford County, KS. We cannot find anything more about him after 1925. The family says that he was involved in an accident at the mine but don't know what happened after that. The year of the accident is unknown. Could someone help us find out more about Florentin or Flor FIOLET? Thank you very much for your help. Sincerely, Lucie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
