    1. [KSCRAWFO] Runyan
    2. D King
    3. Hello everyone - I am hoping that someone can help me out of my blunder. My g-grandfather was Francis Marion Richard Runyan. I just found out last night that there were actually more than one F.M. Runyan and I had him tied to the wrong family all along. :( Come to find out, the F.M. Runyan that I thought he was died in the Civil War in 1862. So, needless to say, I need to start all over and be more careful this time. Francis was probably born around 1860 as his wife, Melissa Ellen Guy, was born in Indiana in 1861. The Guys came to Vernon County, Missouri in the late 1860's to early 1870's. Francis' family must have been there too because he and Melissa Ellen were married in 1879 in Vernon County, Missouri. Then at some point in time, they moved to Midway, Crawford County, Kansas. My grandmother, Isabelle, was born there in 1899. I don't know who, if anyone, they came to Crawford County with. Does anyone have access to cemetery records? I don't know when he died or where he was buried. Melissa Ellen died in the early 30's in Crawford County, so I would assume at this point that they were both buried there. If I can find out when he died, I can possibly get his parents names off of the death certificate. Or, does anyone have a better idea? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Connie

    3. I have found in a book intitled "A Trip Down Memory Lane-- Cherokee 1870-1992" an article about a fire in Cherokee, Kansas, April 6, 1888. There is a long list of the stores that were affected and there losses. "N.H. Rogers lost a valuable hearse which was stored in Crowder's Livery Stable. His loss being $200.00. No insurance." I looked through several other books for his business or name and this is the only thing I could find. I hope this helps you place a date for your mother's walnut dresser. The author of the book is: Wilma Snare 310 South Palmeto Cherokee, Kansas 66724
