Seek information on this family and its ancestors and descendants: William Miller and his wife Arrena (or Arena) Howell Miller moved to Richland Township from Indiana between 1870 and 1880, per census records. William was born December 26, 1817 in Indiana or Tennessee and Arrena was born August 16, 1823 in Kentucky. They were married August 17,1837 in Daviess County, Indiana. No information on their ancestors. William Miller died March2, 1892 at Wilmot, Kansas. He served in the Civil War in Company C, 31st Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Arrena Miller died March 30, 1900 at her home in Wilmot, Kansas. William and Arrena are buried at Wilmot Cemetery. They had 11 children: Phillip, Jim, John, Albert, Jasper, Julia, Martha, Minerva, Emmile, Susan, and Elizabeth. Some of these children probably lived in Cowley County, and there may be descendants living there today. Their son Albert is of most interest to me. He was known variously as Henry, Henry A., and Albert Miller, so his full name may have been Henry Albert Miller. He was born January 1859 in Indiana and came to Cowley County, Kansas with his parents before 1880. He is listed in the 1880 census of Cowley County as single, age 22, and in the 1900 census as widowed, age 41. The 1900 census lists five children in his household: Olive M. (born Feb 1883), Forrest E. (born 1886), Iva (born May 1888), Violet (born Sept 1890), and Rex (born Oct 1893). The name of Henry Albert Miller's wife is unknown, as are the date and place of their wedding, but it was probably in Cowley County or while he was living in Cowley County. Henry Albert Miller moved to Roger Mills County in western Oklahoma before the 1910 census, where he and all of his children but Iva are listed. There is no record of Henry Albert Miller's death in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, and he is not listed there in the 1920 census, so his date and place of death are unknown. None of his family ever returned to Cowley County, Kansas. I am related to a grandson of Forrest E. Miller.
