    1. [KSCOWLEY] Geo F and Emma E Gray, of Burden.
    2. Bill & Chris Strickland
    3. George Franklin "Gran'pa" Gray was born about Nov 1855 in Washington, DC. He died 29 Sep 1929 in Sheridan Twp, Cowley, KS and was buried in Burden Cemetery, Burden, Cowley, KS. George moved to Burden about 1877. Reportedly, George is the son of Austin and Sarah Elizabeth Gray. George married(1) Regina Hetrick, daughter of Samuel Hetrick and Elizabeth Rhodes, in 1879. Regina died 31 Dec 1886. George also married(2) Emmaline Elizabeth (Green) Casebolt about 1899. Emmaline was born Oct 1871 in WI. She died 18 Sep 1934 in possibly Dexter, Cowley, KS. "George Gray, a pioneer of the Burden community, died at his home one and one-half miles south of Burden at 12:30 Sunday night. Mr. Gray was a stonemason and bricklayer and had lived near Burden for 52 years. [This home was built of stone just before his death. It is currently abandoned but still standing (May 1997) out in the middle of section 3 of Sheridan Twp.] "He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two daughters, Mrs. F. E. Strickland of Eaton and Miss Elizabeth Gray at home, and two sons, George at home, and Austin of Denver, Colo." -- Winfield Daily Courier, Monday, 30 Sep 1929 The sons, George and Austin went on to become quite prominent in the business of painting commercial signage on trucks and trailers, first in Denver, and later in Los Angeles. George Gray also has a connection to the wife of W E Gatton, of Burden. I am not positive of the exact nature of that relationship. Although I would like additional information on George Gray, my primary interest is in his second wife, Mrs. E E Gray, who is my great grandmother by her first marriage to William Casebolt. Any help would be appreciated, especially in locating her obituary. At one time, a Casebolt had property on the NE corner of Valley and Main in Dexter. Thank you, Bill Strickland Oregon City, OR
