    3. Apparently this list is set to: When you REPLY, the reply goes to the individual who posted originally, and not back to the list, itself, which is to all members. MOST mailing lists of general interest (surnames, counties, etc.) are set to "reply" back to the list. So, for those of you who are not aware, or careful, you need to pay attention to where any of your replies are going. IF all you see is a person's personal mail address, and you wish to make your reply to the general populace of this list, then you should tell your mailer to REPLY TO ALL, then VOILA! everybody will get it. I have no idea why the listowner has this list set up to make personal replies as a default. ============================================= Re: [KSCOWLEY] Looking for Grandparents and Great-Grandparents Resent-Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2001 08:16:16 -0600 Resent-From: [email protected] Date: Sun, 01 Jul 2001 09:16:15 -0500 From: "Gary F. I have been running into a lot of dead ends. I started at the cemetery where my grandparents are buried. I found out that my grandfather (according to the funeral records) is from Happy Prairie Ks. and was born on Oct 31, 1895. According to the Kansas State Historical Society, there is no such place. > Good morning, Janice. There is a "Pretty" Prairie, Kansas, in Reno county. Don't know what would have been there in 1895, however. Reno county is not too far from Cowley county. Where is the cemetery located where you found the graves? You didn't supply that information. <smile> There also is a Happy township out in western Kansas, however in 1895, that would surely not have been in existence. There is no reference to a "Happy Prairie" in either of Daniel Fitzgerald's "Ghost Towns of Kansas" books, either. Good luck!
