    1. [KSCOWLEY] Mode JOHNSON / Dolsa (nee Pilgrim) JOHNSON
    2. Mode JOHNSON and his wife Dolsa are my great-greatgrandparents. I've been looking and looking for them with no luck. Anyone have either of these two people? They are my brickwall and I'm just about to give up on them both. I put their years of birth at approx. 1840. Both are said to have been born in Alabama.. They had one child that I am sure of, Dolsa JOHNSON b. 10 November 1863 in Kemper Co. MS, she married Jeff Davis HUDNALL from Kemper Co. MS. The daughter (Dolsa Johnson Hudnall) married in 1884 and moved to Cedar Vale KS where her first child was born, Mode HUDNALL, in 1885. To my knowledge none of the Hudnalls lived in Kansas before or after that time. I think that maybe she went to Kansas from Mississippi for the birth of her first child to be near her mother and father. I know that at approximately the same time (1884) there was a Mode JOHNSON living in that area of Kansas. I saw his name mentioned from a May 21, 1884 Arkansas City Traveler newspaper, it simply said that, "Mode Johnson was up from his ranch last week for a day or so. He reports everything as prospering finely." Help me out here....."up from his ranch", does anyone think that could have meant that he came from Cedar Vale to Arkansas City? I've written to this list before and gotten several responses, but I lost all of that information when my old computer crashed. I had a lot saved to disk, but I have Windows 98 now and it won't convert any of my old files that were done in Windows for Workgroups 3.11's version of Works. I thank everyone for their time and patience with me, I appreciate it very much. Thanks, Vickie L. Carter - [email protected]
