fyi, "The 5 Day Trial is 100 % Free for the First 5 Days - Cancel Before End of Trial and Nothing will ever be billed. We Require Billing Information to distinguish users from one another" Anyone requiring financial info for a "free" intro is highly suspicious. [NOTE: this is not RootsWeb GenSeeker -- http://seeker.rootsweb.com/] It is reported elsewhere that: The FamilyDiscovery.com Scam IS BACK! Also Known as: genealogydevelopments.com familydiscovery.com genealogyfinders.com genealogyfinders.net aboent.com genlocator.com genseeker.com genseekers.com genealogy-express.com familysearch.com family-express.com GenealogyExperts.com This information comes from the State Coordinator of the Rootsweb System. A genealogy scam is at www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? The cancellation e-mail bounces. Does this surprise you? One person who recently fell for the come-on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice. This note is passed onto the list subscribers about this web site. Please be aware. Permission is granted to pass this on. All -- It has been brought to my attention that some of the AKA domain names in the list I included (from blacksheep.rootsweb.com) have apparently changed ownership (I would have hated to pay the scammers price for said names), but familysearch.com now defaults to the LDS FamilySearch.org site. Others may also now be under new ownership. Maybe, one of these days, Ancestry.com will step up and buy genseeker.com (and start charging for RootsWeb to pay for it -- way too many things on what was the internet now have a $price ...).
