In the 1870 census of Creswell (P.O. Arkansas), Cowley County, KS there are three THOMPSON men (initials E; R; M) of much interest to me. I believe the E. THOMPSON was Edwin R. THOMPSON (later found in the 1880 census of Arkansas, Cowley, KS.) I have been unable to get even a clue as to the full name of R. THOMPSON and M. THOMPSON but suspect they were brothers of Edwin. Because the census shows all of these men with a real estate value, I had thought I would order a film of Cowley Co. land. WRONG - there aren't any held by the LDS. Nor are there any vitals for this county. Would someone have a suggestion as to how I might obtain grantor/grantee land indexes etc.? Thanks, Carolyn Murphy
