Whereas most of the townships in Cowley County are square at 36 square mile (6 x 6), Dexter is irregular in that it is basically 9 x 9 except for a 9 square mile (3 x 3) corner in the northwest which is part of Sheridan Township. Otter Twp is between Dexter Twp and Chautauqua County. Roughly, Dexter Twp is slightly south of the center of the eastern part of Cowley County. Dexter is about 15 miles east of Winfield, which is in turn about 50 some miles south of Wichita. I don't suppose that this is too far, unless maybe you are on foot and not used to walking 70 miles a day. : ) Bill Strickland Oregon City, OR
