The best way for you to get a report of a death is to get newspaper microfilms from KSHS (Kansas State Historical Society)and review them at your local library. Early newspapers generally carried "personal" info. It's not "official," but it's the best you're going to do. The KSHS online site allows you to search for specific county newspapers and date(s). If your library doesn't have a microfilm reader, KSHS will research it for you with a modest fee for the research. Their newspaper collection includes virtually every newspaper printed in Kansas from the earliest history of the state. Hope this helps. Am curious to see if she possibly re-married a 4th time? Hmmm she is really elusive. Only 64 1885 anything is possible I guess
Coleen, I will be glad to look at the old funeral home records at the Cherokee Strip Museum in Ark City, as they have the old funeral home records that go way back for the whole county. I've looked thru 2 cemeteries for you before, and found nothing. If I can get to the library in the near future, I will be glad to look at the books there as they have all the cemeteries catalogued. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Coleen Coleman" <STARRLIGHT101@webtv.net> To: <KSCOWLEY@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2011 7:37 PM Subject: [KSCOWLEY] GERUSHA WADE >I have looked into RAOGK for a volunteer and > GENEALOGY LOOK UP FORUM for a volunteer with no one listed in the Cowley > Co > area. I have looked into RAOGK for a volunteer and GENEALOGY LOOK UP FORUM for a volunteer with no one listed in the Cowley Co area. I sure could use a helping hand with this lady. Possibly she may have been married a 4th time? If someone could look up court house records for a marriage record for a Gerusha Wade after 1885 (age 64) and tell me if she re-married or could check with some of the Funeral Homes in the area. I have tried for someone in the Historical Society last year to do me a look up in their archives but no one returned my calls or e-mails. Thanks

On this list is the name Donna Jean Ellis April 10, 1939 Arkansas City Kansas. We have no idea how Donna Jean fits into our family. For a few years now, we have searched and come up with nothing at all. My grandmothers name was Florrie Grace Swanner. If anyone has any information or ideas, I would be grateful. Hi all! Just wanted to remind you all that this Saturday, January 29 marks the 150th anniversary of Kansas statehood! The Arkansas City Public Library will be hosting Virgil Dean of the Kansas History journal that day at 2pm. His presentation "The Wyandotte Constitution and the Birth of the 34th Star" will discuss the beginning of Kansas as a state, the people who framed our first constitution, and the events that influenced early Kansas. I know I do not need to tell all of you about the importance of history! I hope you'll join us this weekend at the library, or celebrate Kansas Day in some other way! Thanks, Lianne Flax Adult Services Arkansas City Public Library 120 E 5th Avenue Arkansas City, KS 67005 Phone: 620-442-1280 Fax: 620-442-4277
Gerusha Wade last known 1885 Cowley Co KS born 1821 IN would have been age 64 in this census, widow. Would someone do some cemetery searching for me on this most elusive ancestor. She was Jerusha (Denend), M/1 Peter Fouts, M/2 William Johns,M/3 Elihu Wade. I lose all track of her after 1885, not located in 1895 or 1900 census of this area. Did she die? Are there any records available at the local historical society for some of the older cemeteries that may not have been catalogued or been placed on line yet? Thanks so much for your help with my ancestor.

Two possibilities: dneal@winfieldks.org for cemetery information Bpeters@winfieldks.org for clerk's office You can GOOGLE Winfield, KS and find telephone numbers, too. I assume those email addresses are still valid, but personnel changes are always possible. Good luck, Ellen Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
