    1. [KSCOWLEY] DENEND/DENNING/DEMMING
    2. Coleen Coleman
    3. I am looking for information on 3 men who were in 1880 Census: John Denend/Denning, also a James and Henry Denend/Demming. John was living with my Jerusha (Denend) Fouts, Johns in 1870 census. Can anyone elaborate as to who these men were and who the parents were and when, where they were born? I am having a time finding my Jerusha (Denend) Fouts/Johns/Wade death place and time frame so that I might be able to find a copy of a death record and may tell who her parents were. If I could find her death date possibly an obit may tell me some little bits of information.

    1. [KSCOWLEY] William Miller Family of Richland Township, Cowley County
    2. Seek information on this family and its ancestors and descendants: William Miller and his wife Arrena (or Arena) Howell Miller moved to Richland Township from Indiana between 1870 and 1880, per census records. William was born December 26, 1817 in Indiana or Tennessee and Arrena was born August 16, 1823 in Kentucky. They were married August 17,1837 in Daviess County, Indiana. No information on their ancestors. William Miller died March2, 1892 at Wilmot, Kansas. He served in the Civil War in Company C, 31st Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Arrena Miller died March 30, 1900 at her home in Wilmot, Kansas. William and Arrena are buried at Wilmot Cemetery. They had 11 children: Phillip, Jim, John, Albert, Jasper, Julia, Martha, Minerva, Emmile, Susan, and Elizabeth. Some of these children probably lived in Cowley County, and there may be descendants living there today. Their son Albert is of most interest to me. He was known variously as Henry, Henry A., and Albert Miller, so his full name may have been Henry Albert Miller. He was born January 1859 in Indiana and came to Cowley County, Kansas with his parents before 1880. He is listed in the 1880 census of Cowley County as single, age 22, and in the 1900 census as widowed, age 41. The 1900 census lists five children in his household: Olive M. (born Feb 1883), Forrest E. (born 1886), Iva (born May 1888), Violet (born Sept 1890), and Rex (born Oct 1893). The name of Henry Albert Miller's wife is unknown, as are the date and place of their wedding, but it was probably in Cowley County or while he was living in Cowley County. Henry Albert Miller moved to Roger Mills County in western Oklahoma before the 1910 census, where he and all of his children but Iva are listed. There is no record of Henry Albert Miller's death in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, and he is not listed there in the 1920 census, so his date and place of death are unknown. None of his family ever returned to Cowley County, Kansas. I am related to a grandson of Forrest E. Miller. Ronald Overton Decker, Chicago, IL Phone 773-871-7872 William and Arrena are buried at Wilmot Cemetery. They had 11 children: Phillip, Jim, John, Albert, Jasper, Julia, Martha, Minerva, Emmile, Susan, and Elizabeth. 1. [KSCOWLEY] HOVERSTOCK - WILSON Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Urna HOVERSTOCK WILSON which was taken at the Dresser Studio in Winfield, Kansas. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Urna likely about 3-4 years old at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has also written "daughter of Frank L. HOVERSTOCK" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following census information for the family: 1900 census of Vernon Township, KS: Frank S. HOVERSTACK, b. OH Phoebe I. HOVERSTACK, b. OH Urna B. HOVERSTACK, b. KS Russell O. GREEN 1910 census of Vernon Township, KS: Frank HAVERSTOCK, age 51, 2nd marriage 3 years, born OH, parents born PA, a Farmer ??? HAVERSTOCK, wife, age 30, married 3 years, born MO, parents born England + 1 Hired Hand 1920 census of Vernon Township, KS: Frank L. HOVERSTOCK, age 60, born OH, parents born OH, a Farmer Martha E. HOVERSTOCK, wife, age 40, born KS, parents born England I am hoping to locate someone from Urna's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
