Maybe you should check out Cindi's List for a good answer for specific online resources. Ancestry.com as well as most of our local libraries have a copy of the Oregon Death Index. Maybe they have other records as well. I have received numerous death records from the Stae of Kansas via postal mail from their archives. Of course, there are other non-online resources, such as the Births & Deaths in Cowley County, Kansas that are now on CD ... Maybe there are similar records for Saline County Bill Strickland Oregon City, OR
Hi, I was wondering....what other websites, besides Ancestry.com with the SSDI, family search.org and arrangeonline.com, have a site that does death dates or obituaries? I would like a site that would help me in locating actual death dates besides asking the lists for help or trying to ask the libraries for help? Appreciate any help anyone can give... And, you can actually buy copies of specific reels, if you follow their index. Don't know what the current charge is, but should be in about the $20-$30 range, I would think, now. It is also likely that the Winfield/and/orArk City Library has the reels of their old newspapers. I know the little town of Latham (Butler County) has their's. --------------72BB07723EE88EBB1B2ED9C7--
The Kansas Historical Society will do reels of newspaper on interlibrary loan.

Many thanks to Steve for his reply to my query. The question I must ask next is: Who is the Plass family and are they still around that part of the country? Does one or more of them have and e-mail address, fax number, postal address? Philip . Good morning I joined the list because researching my family name led me to the website of the Cowley county heritage book page 267. One of the people listed there has our family name. It is only mentioned once and I would like to know if anyone knows how to find out more about this individual. Ours is an unusual name and I thought I knew everyone in the world with the name Stranex. The name is April May Stranex who married Gary Wayne Plass probably between 1970 and 1990 sometime. Id just be interested to know where she came from and where she went. Any pointers welcome! Philip (Cape Town.) . [email protected]
All -- It has been brought to my attention that some of the AKA domain names in the list I included (from blacksheep.rootsweb.com) have apparently changed ownership (I would have hated to pay the scammers price for said names), but familysearch.com now defaults to the LDS FamilySearch.org site. Others may also now be under new ownership. Maybe, one of these days, Ancestry.com will step up and buy genseeker.com (and start charging for RootsWeb to pay for it -- way too many things on what was the internet now have a $price ...). I am the one looking for Polly Pointer that married James Mason. They had a daughter Margaret Mason b in Ga. 1838. I ran across something interesting today and wonder if you can help me. It was in the S.C. Pendleton District. Pensions a Thomas Pointer died 2-20-1815 and had the following heirs: Katy Pointer, Leanna, Polly, Melinda, Fleming, Elizabeth, Lucinda, John and Jackson. I wonder if this could possibly be my ggg grandmother I have been looking for. There are several reasons the time frame is the closest I have found and the names that are listed. I figure Polly had to have been born around 1818/1821 thats giving her from the time she was 17/20 years old if her daughter Margaret was born 1838. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am new to this list. I have just received from the Oklahoma Methodist Archives the location of my great grandfathers appointment for the year that my great grandmother died. I am looking for where my great grandmother Anna S. (Masterson) Boles (Bowles) is buried. Her date of death is March 8, 1885. Date of birth - abt. Feb. 4, 1838. Va. Marriage date - March 23, 1865, Westport, Jackson Co., Mo. I have no idea as to where she is buried. My great grandfather, Rev. Charles Boles (Bowles) was a Methodist E. minister and his appointment for 1884 was the Wellington District, then Winfield Circuit and for 1885 it was the Wellington District, Arkansas City Circuit. They had a home in Johnson Co. Ks., Monticello Township. App. 1905 their youngest son, my grandfather, Frank M. Boles, moved from Johnson Co., Ks. to Arkansas City, Ks. I do not know how long he was there or if he and my grandmother lived there for a short time. Can anyone give me any feedback on area (old) cemeteries, Historical Societies, available records that would date back to the 1884-1885 time period and where they would be? Any and all information, leads, input will be appreciated. Thanks Carol (Boles) Rollins Olathe, Ks. [email protected]
