Ken No, it is one of the files needed if you attempt to access a JAVA script. Those who don't surf the web, don't need the file, eventhough it originally was there. There are several ways to re-install that file, if you were gullible enough to fall for the hoax, and deleted it.
This is is a hoax! I have a computer that never has been on line and it has the file in question. I believe it has something to do with Family Tree Maker as my wife who is on line and does not have Family Tree Maker installed nor does she have the file in question! The following was taken from the Symantec (Norton Antivirus) website. Always check an antivirus website for hoaxes before panicing. Jdbgmgr.exe file hoax Reported on: April 12, 2002 Last Updated on: March 20, 2003 10:50:15 AM Symantec Security Response encourages you to ignore any messages regarding this hoax. It is harmless and is intended only to cause unwarranted concern. This hoax, like the SULFNBK.EXE Warning hoax, tries to encourage you to delete a legitimate Windows file from your computer. Jdbgmgr.exe is the file to which the hoax refers, and it is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java. The Jdbgmgr.exe file may be installed when you install Windows. NOTE: Recent versions of this hoax take advantage of the recent outbreak of the [email protected] worm. The Jdbgmgr.exe file mentioned in the hoax has a bear icon. The actual [email protected] worm file is a .exe file and does not have a bear icon. >A virus has been passed on to me and my >address book in turn has been infected. A virus has been passed on to me and my address book in turn has been infected. I just found it and detected it. since you are in my address book there is a very strong chance that you will find it in your computer too. The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or Macafee anti virus systems. This virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the systems. It is sent automatically by messenger and the address book whether or not you send e-mails to your contacts. Her is how to check for the virus and get rid of it: 1. go to start, Find or Search option. 2. In the file/folders option, type the name: jdbgmgr.exe 3. Be sure you search your C-drive and all the sub-folders and any other drives you have. 4. Click "Find now" 5. The virus has a grey teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe - DO NOT OPEN IT! 6. Go to edit (on the menu bar) and choose SELECT ALL to highlight the file without opening it. 7. Now go to File (on the menu bar) and select DELETE. It will go to the recycle bin. If you find the virus, you must contact all the people in your address book so they can eradicate it in their own address books. To do this: 1. Open a new e-mail message. 2. Click The icon of the address book next to the "To" 3. Highlight every name and add to "BCC" 4. Copy this message, enter subject and paste to email and send. Sorry, hope that your computers are OK!

Paula Bacon Precure You might find this link of interest. The gentleman featured is the Burden historian. His e-mail address is shown the article, as well as the link to his web page. http://www.kake.com/news/features/4/279006.html By the way, in 1942, a Mr. & Mrs. R.A. Burden were living in Latham, Butler County, not to many miles from the town of Burden. Don't know if this ties in or not. Their son, Esli Burden, was recently married, in October, 1942. We are reading newspaper microfilms from Latham newspapers, and the town of Burden is mentioned quite often, as is this Burden family. Gary & Mary Lee Presson, Wichita.
