    1. Re: [KSCLAY] Iwacura Church and Cem.
    2. Hi-- Bloom Cemetery and Iwacura Cemetery are not the same. Bloom is located in Section 14 of Bloom Twp., and Iwacura is in Section 7. For some reason the USGS listings do not include Iwacura, but it can be seen on the Topozone map, listed only as "Cem". This is from a Clay County history book: "The Iwacura Cemetery is located in Bloom Twp. 7-7-1 SE. Five area men served as board members and the plans for its establishment were made April 19, 1898. There doesn't seem to be a legal record of the building of the Iwacura church but it must have been at the same time. It was of the United Brethren denomination and their worship services were very similar to the Tabor United Brethern church. The same ministers served both churches. The services were often combined, especially in the later years. The Iwacura Church members lived, for the most part, north and west of the church. Declining membership caused the services to be discontinued and the building was moved to Abilene in the late 1940's." Sheryl
