Conner was a Captain in the Civil War with the 6th Infantry Regiment. One of 13 children of Willoughby and Rachel Conner of Jennings Co. IN, several of the brothers following the War were involved in the printing and newspaper business. Whether Daniel was involved is not known. When his youngest brother (my ggrandfather) sought a disability pension for disease contracted at Andersonville prison, Daniel submitted an affadavit from Clay Co. Kansas in March, 1872 supporting his claim. His wife might have been named Emily, although that is speculation at this point. He was listed as a farmer in an earlier Indiana census. Seeking relevant information concerning his residence in Clay County in the 1870s, perhaps beyond. Not much to go on. He apparently returned to Jennings Co. IN where he died in 1881. However, he does not appear there in the 1880 census, so may have returned there with a terminal illness. Any insight or help much appreciated. Dick Conner in Las Vegas
