Husband's name was James Smith. They were married in Fulton County IL 4 Jan 1863. Lived in Crawford County KS in 1880 and Clay Center KS in 1923. Rachel and James, both born in IN, had a son named Jacob W. on the 1880 Crawford County census, age 16. While living in Clay Center, Rachel made her mark on an affidavit (regarding a widows pension) for her sister-in-law Persia Sizelove Black. Witnesses to that mark were J. W. Smith and Maud Smith. If any of the above names sound familiar to someone, I would appreciate hearing from you
