    1. [KSCLAY] KS Family Group Sheets Site
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, I received the following announcement on the KS-Family-Group-Sheets Mailing List and thought it would be of interest to many of you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom "I'm happy to announce a new Special Project, the Kansas Family Group Sheet (FGS) project. It's my privilege to be managing it, and I hope to be very busy adding family group sheets submitted by all of you. The URL for the page is http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/kansas/ . I think you'll find the page easy to read and use, but if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. The USFGS home page ( http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/) links to all the states. I hope you'll take advantage of this new project. Those of us who have been working to bring it to Kansas are very excited about its possibilities. Any family group that lived in Kansas, even for a short time, can be posted. THE ONLY PERSONS WHO CANNOT BE POSTED ARE THOSE WHO ARE LIVING. Each family group sheet provides space for basic information about father, mother, and children; so if you only know about one family unit, you know enough to put the information up. If you know more, you can add more family group sheets: the father's parents and siblings, the mother's parents and siblings, the children's spouses and children, and on and on. If you've traced the family into other states, you can post your group sheet in those states as well as Kansas. But just one family sheet in one state can be enough to make new and exciting connections. We've prepared the pages and forms, added search engines and links, and now it's in your hands. Send in your family group sheets. One a day, one a week, whatever works for you. Tell your fellow researchers about the site. Talk about it at your next genealogical society meeting. Mention it in your emails. The more people hear about the site, the more contributions we're likely to get; and the more contributions we receive, the more valuable the project is going to be. I'll be waiting for your family to turn up in my mailbox! Charles Barnum, KS FGS manager" I started my genealogy research in Kansas about 40 years ago.

    1. [KSCLAY] From List Mom - Comcast buy out
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, If you were effected by the Comcast buy out, then you need to read this, if not delete it. Just this evening, I have receive over 100 requests for me to change e-mail address to a Comcast address. Many of these requests mention multiple lists of which the sender needs their e-mail address changed. It will take me a good week or so to get through them all. My suggestion is; If you still have the ability to unsubscribe go to PASSWORD Central at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ type in your old e-mail address, and follow the directions. You will receive an e-mail from which you can unsubscribe. If you can't do this, then you will just need to re-subscribe with your new address and let the old one bounce off. To re-subscribe this go to John Fuller's mailing list site http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html or remember you can subscribe and or unsubscribe by sending only the word UNSUBSCRIBE or SUBSCRIBE to XXXXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM or XXXXXX-D-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM if you are on the Digest List. Naturally change the XXXXXX to the name of the list. If all else fails, contact me, but be understanding if it takes me a while to get to you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [KSCLAY] Memorial Day - Lonely Graves
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. For those of you who are visiting the cemeteries and graves of your loved ones, your ancestors this weekend and have a few extra flowers, think of placing them on one of the lonely graves which are never visited. Or, if you are living in an area where you have no one, think of visiting a cemetery and placing flowers by one of these lonely graves. I live in Logan Utah and tomorrow I will be visiting several local cemeteries and will be placing flowers on graves. Over the past years I have adopted these graves, these people and I hope that someone out there is doing the same for my loved ones. This is the day to remember those who came before us, who forged the paths that we now walk. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

Surnames: Alfred Robert and Sarah Moles Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/wl.2ADE/40.4 Message Board Post: My ancestors, Alfred Robert and Sarah Goffin left Norfolk, Eng. to settle and homestead in around Wakefield in the 1870's. I believe they were still alive in 1913 or so, but would like any info I could get about them. I heard that they were burnt out and had to save themselves and cattle in a pond. they had other hardships also. I believe ther was a son who later went to Topeka and at least a daughter. I have found Alfred in Davis County, Junction Township in the 1870 census, but no more. I have asked many times regarding them and have never found anything out. I would appreciate any info about them. Thank you so much for the offer. Faith Rawlin-Wilson

    1. [KSCLAY] From List Mom - Vacations and Unsubscribing
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, It is that time of year when some of you will be leaving on Vacations. You might want to consider unsubscribing from the list while you are gone and then resubscribing when you return. The easiest way to do this is by using Password Central. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will receive a e-mail list of all Rootsweb Mailing Lists you belong to. You can unsubscribe using this e-mail. Save it and you then have a list of mailing lists you want to re-subscribe to. When you return, you can check the Archives for this list at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Just type in the name of the list and you can check the messages for the dates you were gone. The following was shared with me and I think it is one of the best Maps I have seen showing the growth and history of the United States. http://www.animatedatlas.com/movie.html I appreciate each of you and know that it is because of you our list is the success it is. I do not know when he died, where he was buried, or the whereabouts of his son, who may still be alive. . Maybe there are grandchildren? jancoy@rainbowtel.net
