Uh, since you have the book, would you mind throwing the name Clagett in and seeing what pops up? My gguncle died of an overdose and left a wife in Clay Center and wonder if he and his wife of two months might be buried there. His name was Thomas CLAGETT. She was GUK Allison (2nd wife). Thomas had a brother-in-law named Roy Hill, who was with him when he died at the Commerce Hotel in Topeka, and I think he lived in Clay Center, also. Not for sure that he wasn't sent back to Maryland, but doubt it. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks, Amy
Is there anyone who can do a cemetery search for the Green, Goshen & Highland Twps. area? The obituary for Christopher Hunter who died March 22, 1914 states that he is buried in Green Cemetery. I am looking for the birth/death information for his wife Anna (Jones) Hunter. Also, Daniel Hugunin died of typhoid pneumonia on Dec. 5, 1887 in Goshen Twp. I would like to know where he is buried, his date of birth if it is in the cemetery records, and the birth/death information for his wife, Lovina. I would appreciate any help I can get on this! I would appreciate any pictures of Clay County folks--I love old pictures anyway, and I think they "warm up" a site. Not that we don't need databases, but I'm always thrilled when I run across a picture of some relative on a website. I am looking for Pierre Louis Charles CLERC, who immigrated from France in 1887 and lived in Kansas until 1892. The remainder of his years were spent in Jefferson County, MO, where he made a living 'making' , packaging and selling his products, such as stove polish. He did quite a business with poultry products - from feed to medications. Usually these types of things are documented in the county's history. If anyone can guide me as to where to find this information, I would appreciate it. Thank you, Kay, FL MehdiFakhar@aol.com

Hey Sheryl, you're doing a great job and helping many people, keep up the great work !!! Don in Melbourne, Australia
Thanks for the great job you are doing on the Clay County website, Sheryl. I took your suggestion to browse rather than run a search and found my great-great grandmother's brother, Daniel Hugunin, in this database, as well as the probate database. His name was misspelled in both databases and each misspelling was different. >From: Mkat72@aol.com >Reply-To: KSCLAY-L@rootsweb.com >To: KSCLAY-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [KSCLAY] 1886-1887 Death Records online, Clay Co. Hi everyone-- Not to be morbid, but----I have added more death records from the old court house ledgers. This database has been indexed and is searchable, but if you think your family member died during this time, and does not show up on the search engine on the site, please browse through the database--sometimes the spelling was not correct in the original records. Find this database under "Newest Additions" or click on the "Vital Records" button. Sheryl http://www.rootsweb.com/~ksclay/ .
Hi all- I have transcribed most of the 1907 book, "The Wakefield Colony", by John Chapman, and it is available on the Clay County AHGP website. If your relatives were early settlers in the southeastern section of the county, or if you are just interested in Clay County history, you will find this an interesting read. I omitted a couple of chapters with little genealogical information. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ksclay/ Look under "New Additions" or go to the "Everything Else" link to see this book, Sheryl
I have posted some "Affidavits of Death" that include the years 1874-1887. This file is probably not complete--the early years seem rather sketchy. The affidavit list the person who died, when he died and sometimes the heirs and their relationship to the decedant--go to the Clay Co. AHGP website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ksclay/index.html and follow the link under "Newest Additions" or "Vital Records". I just got back from Kansas and will be adding more information during the next couple of weeks. I will post to this list as I get records online. Sheryl
