I've checked my Rand McNally and the USGS GNIS site. Am I correct in assuming that refs to Lincoln and Fort Lincoln mean the historical location abt midway between Mapleton and Fulton? Was there actually a fort there, either during the CW or as an Indian outlook? Does anyone know what type of settlement was there ca 1858-1860ish? And, just to clarify, I know there is a Lincoln County in north central KS, but my search if for the Bourbon County Lincoln community.
