The 1870 census index gives me two refs for Daniel S. Smith, one in Fort Scott Ward 1 @ pg 415 and the other in Ward 2 @ pg 446. I've just begun to work on these folks, my gggrandparents. Their daughter, Susan Abagail Smith m my ggrandfather, John Shaw Knowles. Daniel & Alzina are likely buried in Bourbon: she d 1879 and he in 1888.
