    3. >From the Fort Scott Monitor, May 19, 1909 John Manning, who has been in the insane ward of the jail for weeks and weeks, disturbing a whole block about every hour of the day is a free man. Judge Russell paroled him today and he left town at once, going to Kansas City, where he says he will stay. last night Manning got on a tantrum, in fact, about every evening he has been delivering a short lecture on virtue, chastity, and a few other subjects of which he is scant and found wanting. The language he used last night was something dreadful. He yelled in such a manner that he could be heard a whole block. Manning knows the best people in town and the way he painted some of them last night was a sight. He would get up in the north window, take out the panes of glass and begin to buz and everyone within a block could hear him. It is a common nuisance, this manner of keeping insane persons where their blackguard disturbs a whole block. Some of the....................(rest of article missing on page I copied.) Elayne
