I was interested to read this article because my grandfather, Sam Rudkin, at one time co-owned and co-operated the barber shop in the Goodlander Hotel. According to my uncle Don Rudkin, Sam and his partner a Mr. Rutledge were in business as Rutledge & Rudkin sometime before World War I, but probably after 1901 when Mr. Letton is said in the article to have left Ft. Scott. Sam eventually bought Rutledge out, but around 1917 sold the business in the Goodlander and moved to one on Main St. Eventually in about 1926 my grandfather Sam bought the National Hotel, to which he added a restaurant and he also ran a barber shop in the hotel. My father lived with his family in the National Hotel from the time he was 3 yrs old until he went off to the Army in WW II. Sam owned and ran the hotel until 1945. --Tom Rudkin -----Original Message----- From: Bill or Elayne <wttet@ptd.net> To: KSBOURBO-L@rootsweb.com <KSBOURBO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, February 22, 1999 5:03 PM Subject: [KSBOURBO-L] LETTON/WRIGHT WEDDING >Dec 23, 1941 Fort Scott Tribune: > >J.F.
