Dec 23, 1941 Fort Scott Tribune: J.F. Letton Weds at Charlottesville, VA. News has been received of a wedding of unusual interest to this community. John F. Letton of ??? South Eddy Street was married to Mrs. John H. Wright at her beautiful home, 506 Preston Place, Charlottesville, VA at noon today. Mr. Letton is well known in Fort Scott, having come here in April 1896 to manage the Goodiander Hotel, which he operated until 1901 when he left for the east. He became well known throughout the United States as an outstanding owner and operator of many of the nations more prominent hotels, including the Belvedere at Baltimore, Md, the Raleigh Hotel at Washington DC, and the Lycoming at Williamsport, PA. Mr Letton retired in May of 1933 and returned to Fort Scott to live. Mrs. Wright is of one of the first families of Virginia and has been prominent in civic and social circles there. Immediately after the ceremony, Mr. And Mrs. Letton left for Richmond, VA t spend a week at the famous Jefferson Hotel. They will also go to Norfolk, VA to be the guest of Mr. Letton's old friend, Col. Charles H. Consolve, owner and operator of the Hotel Monticello. They will also visit in Washington DC, Baltimore and at Gettysburg, Pa, returning to Fort Scott about January 1o for a short while before going to Florida for the winter. Elayne
