Dear Bourbon County Kansas, I am looking for family members that may have lived in your area after the Civil War. They lived in both Bourbon and Montgomery Counties, so I am looking at them specifically and all those counties between. I am hoping to find any information I can about them ie birth, marriage, death, and census records. Here is what I know. (Some of this may not pertain to Bourbon County but it may show a link in one of your families) 1867 - Lebbeus (aka Libeus or Lewis) Clark TAYLOR married Margaret MORRISON possibly in Bourbon County Kansas. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War and his regiment was sent to Kansas twice. He enlisted in Juda Wisconsin. They had 5 children in ten years when she died in 1877. I do not know where she is buried. Children were: 1. Clara Edith Taylor 1867 2. Charles Ernest Taylor 1869 3. Frank Melton Taylor 1871 4. Burton Allen Taylor 1873 5. William Chester Taylor 1874 After Margaret MORRISON TAYLOR died, I do not know who raised the children. There may have been a sister in the Bourbon County area named Cass DAVIS. We do not have a clue what happened to those first five children and would really to trace their families. Lebbeus (aka Libeus or Lewis) Clark TAYLOR shows up in 1885 in Montgomery County Kansas when he married for the second time to my great-grandmother Susan Anne CRIMM. 1870 Federal Census (pg 431 ID KS01226175) has Susan CRIMM as a resident of Bourbon County - I just found this out last week and have not verified or seen this record yet. I think she is my great-grandmother. I would like to see if her place of birth, etc is listed there. 1880 Census shows Susan CRIMM living in Montgomery County Kansas 1885 Susan CRIMM married Lebbeus aka Lewis Clark TAYLOR on March 26, 1885. They had six children while living in the Elk City KS area until about 1906 when they moved to Missouri. They were of the Seventh Day Adventist Faith. Their Children were: 1. Elgia Aletha Taylor 1886 2. Elsie Hazel Taylor 1888 3. Ivan Crimm Taylor 1890 4. Elvia Mae Taylor 1892 5. John Herman Taylor 1894 6. Zella M. Taylor 1896 I hope some of you have a connection to these families or would be willing to do a look up in Bourbon for me. I would also love to read some history of the county during the 1860-1880 period. Thanks so much. Mary Taylor Oldham in Louisiana mailto:marry@bayou.com
