I have a copy on rental, and it will be at my local FHC for one month. Does anyone have an index to this? I looked for John McALEVY, but had no luck finding him. He was in the1865 KS state Census and the 1880 US in Fort Scott, so I fully expected to find him. I suspect he may be outside Ft. Scott in Fulton, but was Fulton around in 1870? Did it have a prior name? Was it Osage for awhile? Thanks for your help. I suspect my next trip to the FHC will find me paging through slowly, so If you have a request, I could keep my eyes open. I did and here's what they have on Castle Sinclair ( the all-caps and notes in parenthesis are mine): Castle Sinclair, successor to Castle Girnigoe and erected in its ourter ward in 1606. Reflecting the changing taste of its period, it was a building of some architaectural pretnesion, three stories high in part, with apartments forming a N (I'm assuming this is the direction) range and offices along the S curtain. The castle belonged to the Sinclair Earls of Caithness, and it was a dispute about succession which led to the ATTACK IN 1679 which so damaged the castle that IT WAS ABANDONED. Of Castle Sinclair, one fragment stands to roof height but the other walls have a maximum height of 5m and some are turfed-over foundations, 0.4m high. The outer walls are generally 1.5m thick, but some to the SW reach 3m in thickness. Architecture Notes: Carved stones and supporters of Arms from Castle Sinclair now at Ackergill Tower. * * * Johnnye --part0_921659303_boundary--

    2. Curry, Niki
    3. For everyone interested in the LDS site (i.e., EVERYONE!), Please note that the articles I posted earlier and other messages exchanged all indicate that the site is currently blocked from general usage due to heavy, unexpected activity by "us researchers" in general. Only "specially selected" users have the password and ID information required to access the site at this time. It is expected a general announcement by the LDS Church will be made at their April 2/4 General Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. (This last passed on by 2 different listers on different lists.) So for now, I guess we all just have to be patient. Bummer!! Niki Beechwood Curry

If you haven't been notified, then you will not be able to access it at this time. This is a test site and they want to test it without it getting "swamped". I myself was able to get onto the website, but it's server was busy. Later the same day it requested a user id and password to gain access. I'll be sure to pass it along when I hear that it is open to general internet community. Vitalis is said to have been a "singing evangelist". Nancy Jane died 6 Apr 1898. She is buried at Greenwood Cemetery. Her headstone is said to read "She done what she could". This is similar to the headstone of Carrie Nation which reads "Faithful to the Cause of Prohibition. She hath Done What She could". Was Ft. Scott a hot bed of Prohibition at this time? 3. Hi Ellen, I plan to make a trip to Ft. Scott as soon as the weather settles down, and I will purchase the book "Footprints" if it's still available. **Thank YOU** so much for trying to help. I have made two trips to Ft. Scott and found a "real live cousin". He had left a pedigree chart at the little genealogical cntr. there and I found that we shared GGrandparents.... so I contacted him. Success is FUN!! I haven't experienced it ofter, but am making a little progress. None of the people you listed are related to me... that I know of. Peter Riley, I saw his name in Ft. Scott, but can't connect him, as yet anyway. Thanks again, Jeanne (Reed) Gaylord.
