The Topeka Daily State Journal Friday May 31, 1918 W.O. Ewing Is Dead. He Was Early Settler and Member of the "Good Gatherers." William O EWING, 85 years old, a pioneer resident of Shawnee county, died Thursday afternoon at his home, 701 Tyler street. Ewing was born in Clarendon, Vermont in 1833. His parents were Quakers. He came to Kansas as a young man and settled in Dover township. Later he was associated with the late Guliford Dudley in the banking business in Topeka. He was the last survivor of the "Good Gatherers" club of prominent early settlers who used to gaterh in the Dudly bank after business hours every day for an hour of so of secreation. Ewing was a member of the Masonic lodge No. 17. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the home.
