The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday October 29, 1909 Mrs. Laird Gets $3,500. The Santa Fe Railway company settled with Mrs. Thomas Laird for $3,500 on account of the death of Mr. Laird which occurred two weeks ago in the wreck. While the amount is small as compared to what it should have been, yet it is without litigation and delay so Mrs. Laird's advisors tought it best to settle. The same sums were paid the other claimants with the exception of Mrs. Tripp of Valley Falls who has as yet refused to settle. Mrs. Laird is planning to move to her little place near Cummings next week and Jake FETTY will help her with the rented land Mr. Laird had secured for next year.--Nortonville News.
