    2. Jim Laird
    3. The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday December 3, 1909 John Leslie GOUCHER, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Goucher, was born on a farm near McLouth, Kansas, August 23, 1899, died in Oskaloosa, Kansas, Nov. 30, 1909, age 10 years, 3 months and 7 days. His death was caused by an injury inflicted by a rusty nail which developed into lock-jaw. The family moved to McLouth in 1903 and to Oskaloosa in the Spring of 1909. Leslie was a home-loving boy, his mother being his constant companion. She taught him many bible lessons in which he was much interested and which he always remembered. Only four days before his death he asked his mother to read him the story of John 3:16. When she finished he said, "Mamma, I believe it all, and when I die I will go there." His life here was short but dear to those about him. He has gone out into the real life, where his power and faculties will be fully developed while he awaits the coming of loved ones.
