The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday December 22, 1910 Hurt In A Runaway. As they were driving home in their surrey late Saturday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Guy McFARLAND were injured in a runaway. They were taken immediately to Dr. M.F. MARKS' office for treatment. Mrs. McFarland escaped with slight scratches and bruises, but Guy was hurt about the eye and so stunned by the blow that he was not himself for a day or two. The team, one of that a little high spirited, frightened when Clarence STAFFORD in a lumber wagon drove rapidly around McFarlands, whose team starting to run upset their surrey and dragging it along for a few yards with the occupants helpless within, pulled the tongue out of the clips, and ran across the bridge where they were caught by Parker LEWIS, who with Clayte BURKERT was driving in from the north, and brought to town. Beech CHAPMAN assisted Guy and his wife, out of the rig, straightened it up, gathered up and cared for the their several scattered packages. After treatment and they were able to travel, Jess GLASSELL took Mr. and Mrs. McFarland home in his carriage. Guy is now alright.
