The Topeka Daily State Journal Monday May 27, 1918 Mrs. Menger Is Dead. Widow of Well Known Pioneer Minister Was in Quantrell Raid. Mrs. Sophia MENGER, widow of the late Rev. H.M. Menger, one of the best known pioneer preachers of the Methodist Episcopal church, died Saturday night at her home, 721 Connecticut street, Lawrence, aged 85 years. A number of Topekans will attend the funeral at Lawrene Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Menger is survived by four daughters and two son, the oldest daughter being Mrs. A.J. ROSS of Lawrence.
