The Valley Falls Vindicator Jefferson County Wednesday January 3, 1940 Mrs. Rachel Lou BOOTH, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27th, at her home in Valley Falls, was the tenth and youngest child of Mrms. Eliazer McCLURE. Her parents and her nine brothers and sisters have all preceeded her in death. She was born near St. Louis, Missouri, February 27, 1853 and came to Kansas with her parents when she was three years old. She lived in Jefferson County, Kansas, the remainder of her life, which was only two months short of eighty-seven years. She joined the Methodist church when she was a young girl and remained a faithful and active member throughout her lifetime. On November 11, 1877, she was married to Isaac BOOTH who died in 1917. Five children gladdened their home; Mrs. Jessie BOWEN; Mrs. Ada MOORE; George, who died in 1922; Mrs. Lilllie KOONS and Mrs. Blanche BROSA. All of the daughters live in or near Valley Falls. Mrs. Booth had twelve granchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrms. Booth took two other boys into their hospitality; Sam PERSING of Rock Creek, and Ernest SCHICK of Cannonville, Oregon. Mrs. Booth has made her home in Valley Falls since 1919. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Saturday afternoon, December 30, by Rev. Sam Hedrick. A solo was sung by Mrs. Chas. Marsh, with accompaniment by Mrs. Hedrick at the organ. Burial was in the Valley Falls cemetery. Card of Thanks.
