    3. The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday July 10, 1880 Died. SHEEK.--In this city, on the evening of July 3, from the effect of paralysis, Mrs. Lucinda, wife of J.W. Sheek, recently from Scott township, this county. The deceased was born in Yadkin county, North Carolina, August 10, 1815, was married in the same county to Mr. Sheek June 23, 1833. In the year 1850 she, with her husband, left their native home for the West and located in Poweshiek county, Iowa, and there remained until their removal to Linn county, Kansas, October, 1855. Mrs. Sheek, previous to coming to Kansas, was for several years a member of the Methodist church. She was a woman of high moral character, beloved by all who knew her. She leaves several children, besides her bereaved husband and a host of friends to mourn her death.
