The Valley Falls New Era Jefferson County Thursday September 8, 1910 Salena McCRAY was born in Ray county, Mo., March 1st, 1832 and died at her home near Valley Falls, Kan., Sept. 4th, 1910, aged 78 years, 6 mo. and 3 days. She was married in Buchanan county, Mo., to Zachariah S. MILLER, Sept. 4th, 1851, where they experienced the hardships of the first Settlers of Kansas. They came to Jefferson county in 1871, where they have since resided. To them were born eight children, seven sons and one daughter, of whom 5 are living, the living being Henry L, Hiram G., Elisha J., Robert L. and William H. She united with the Missionary Baptist church when 18 years of age, and by letter, to the Cumberland Prebyterian church in 1856, and with the M.E. church at Gregg's chapel in 1903. She was a faithful and devoted christian and a kind and loving wife and mother. H.M. The funeral was held from the M.E. church at Valley Falls, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. I.N. Tinnell of Arrington, assisted by the local pastor, officiating at the services in the presence of a large company of friends and relatives. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Card of Thanks. We wish to sincerely thank our many friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy in our bereavement and loss of dear wife and mother.
