The Harper Advocate Harper County Thursday October 25, 1928 Set Jail On Fire. After being confined in the city jail for being drunk and disturbing the peace, Wednesday evening, Percy BRECKENRIDGE set fire to the voting booths that are, or were stored in the city jail and when discovered soon after was in an unconscious condition due to the smoke from the smoltering canvas. City Marshal Sam CALDWELL was notified by some boys who saw the smoke in the room. Mr. Caldwell with assistance removed Breckenridge from the jail and got the fire, which was still in smoltering stage, out before any severe damage was done.
