The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday February 15, 1920 Drops From Chair, Dead. Body of Scott Bateman, Shoemaker, Found on Floor of Shop. The body of Scott BATEMAN, shoemaker, was found yesterday morning lying on the floor beside a cold stove in his shop, 316 East Fourth street. Dr. O.F. Marcotte, coroner, said that Bateman's death probably was due to apoplexy. The shoemaker apparently had fallen forward some time during the night out of his chair, which was drawn up beside the stove. His nose was broken by the fall. Mrs. Sarah Bateman, widow, lives at Glade, Kan. His brother, Perry Bateman, of St. Joseph, telegraphed Shellabarger & Son, undertakers, that he would arrive here today.
