The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday February 15, 1920 Mrs. Hamilton Dies. Pioneer Resident and Prominent In Church Activities. Mrs. Elmah I. HAMILTON, aged 69, one of the pioneer residents of Wabaunsee county, and a resident of Topeka for twenty-eight years, died yesterday at her home, 1180 Clay street, after an illness of six weeks. Death was due to heart disease, possibly indirectly brought on by an injury in an automobile accident last November. Mrs. Hamilton had long been prominent in all activities of the Lowman Memorial Methodist church. For twenty years she had been in charge of the old ladies' Bible class of the Sunday school. Altho several members are over 80 years of age, the class established an attendance record in January by having the largest percentage of its member present during the month of any in the adult department. Mrs. Hamilton also was a member of the Fraternal Aid union. Mrs. Hamilton came to Kansas from Pennsylvania in 1868 and settled near Eskridge. She resided in that place until she came to Topeka. She is survived by her husband, Micajah Hamilton, and three children, Mrs. Hattie STEWART, and Mrs. Hester SIMMONS, of Topeka and Frank M. Hamilton, of Tulsa, Okla. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from her home. Burial in Mount Hope cemetery.
