The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday June 24, 1882 A sad drowning affair occurred in Centerville township, this county, on Wednesday evening of last week, by which five persons lost their lives in an attempt to ford a branch of Sugar creek when the water in the same was unusuallyh high. Those drowned were Mr. and Mrs. John SEALS and child, two children named TANKLEY and a child named TACKETT. They were among a party returning home from a funeral in a wagon, containing altogether ten persons, it is said. We are indebted to Mr. R.B.
