    3. The Colby Free Press Thomas County Thursday January 14, 1915 Die with Diphtheria. It is with extreme sadness this week that we report the deaths of Lawrence and Claude JEFFRIES, sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Jeffries, Jr., of the north part of the county. For the past week or so the little fellows have been struggling with a severe attack of diphtheria, but it was hoped that they might recover, and indeed, very favorable hopes of their recovery were entertained by the many friends and neighbors, but it seemed that they could not withstand the ravages of the terrible disease. on Monday of this week the spirit of one of the boys took its flight and the next night, the other one passed away. One of the boys was seven years old and the other little fellow was about three. Everything that was possible was done to save the lives of these children but to no avail. The little bodies were laid to rest in Beulah cemetery on Tuesday of this week by the neighbors and friends of the family. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of everyone in their extreme grief. One of the other children has the disease now, but we understand that he is progressing nicely and we trust and hope that this child may be spared.
